Update #1 Enter the Mysteria

Welcome to the first Biweekly update, and the summary of just a little bit of the work I have done. The stats, Mysteria, skills, and a variety of other things are going to be laid out!

The 6 Stat System

I have 6 stats, very much like D&D and most other TTRPGs. I changed the names a bit to make them more unique of course!

  • Strength
  • Agility
  • Sprit
  • MP (Mysteria Power)
  • Fortitude
  • Intelegence

MP is the only one currently subject to change, but I have renamed Devil Fruits Mysteria.

The Class System

Each class has 10 unique levels, and my goal by the next update is to have them finished to at least level 5. I will keep the classes a secret to build suspense for the few people who follow this blog, but I am currently planning on 8 classes.

Mysteria

Now time for the big event, the Mysteria. My answer to devil fruits! They are strange stones imbued with power. While appearing anywhere, when a person touches a Mysteria they are imbued with its power. The only way to not take its power is to already have a Mysteria or to not allow it to make contact with your skin. Mysteria seems to only affect sentient races, which make many speculate as to what their origins are…

In Practice, Mysteria act as a subclass of sorts. Heavily inspired by the Over Arms system, Mysteria will be completely player-created. They have 5 levels, each with a unique power built by the player, for the player! Don’t worry though, there will be a robust system on how to make one heavily inspired and based on my own devil fruit ideas!

Mysteria Types

We have 3 main types of Mysteria currently, Formatia, Materia, and Anamalia. All of them are very self-explanatory, except Formatia. Formatia is a catch-all umbrella for skill-based fruits that will probably be split into 2 categories after a new catchy name is invented.

Formations of Will

The variation of Haki here is a manifestation of Will, it has 2 primary versions. I still need a nice name to replace Haki with that I like, but for now, this works. Each has 5 unique levels, but you can only take a joint 5 levels in total allowing for even more variation in builds.

Aegis

Basically, just armament Haki, coat your body, and increase/prevent damage.

Acuity

Royalty-free actually a useful observation Haki. This enhances one mental perception of events and with enough master even their perception of time.

Skill List

Listed alphabetically below, probably missed a few and need to add them in later. But it’s what I have right now!

Agility
Awareness
Diplomacy
Endurance
Forbidden Knowledge
Forging
Handle Animal
History
Medic
Pathfinder
Stealth
Thievery
Threatening

Armor Rating

The Armor Rating of a Player’s Character is determined by their fortitude. The table below shows the baseline for the Armor Rating. The lowest it can go is 10.

FortitudeAR
≤510
612
814
1016

Work In Progress Names

So far, I have 5 names ideas for the TTRPG.

  • The Sea With No Ruler
  • Pirate Haven
  • Enter the Mysteria
  • Mysteria Madness
  • Masters of Mysteria

I don’t love or hate any of these, but you know it’s good to get the creative juices flowing.

Level of Completion

I would say I am less than 5% done with this endeavor. you don’t realize how hard something is until you try it. Combat is especially difficult, I want to make an RPG my group will play. But we like freeform combat, which is very hard to design and make fun. I am going to make my roommates sit down and roll dice with me a lot when I actually try to tackle it, but I first need a few levels of everything to truly test it out. Hope you’ve enjoyed this update, and now it’s time for me to get back to work on it!
